One-off cleaning preparation

One-off cleaning checklist for Melbourne homes

By Pure Spotless Cleaning · Published 3 October 2026

A one-off clean works best when the priorities and accessible areas are clear before the appointment. For an occupied house or apartment, start by choosing the rooms you need cleaned, agreeing on any extras and clearing belongings from the surfaces and floors involved.

This checklist explains how to prepare for our one-off house cleaning service in Melbourne, including a spring clean or a single visit before guests arrive. It is a preparation guide; your accepted written quotation confirms the cleaning included.

Ready to plan your clean? Send your suburb, preferred date, priority rooms and condition photos. We confirm the scope, availability and price before booking.

Request a one-off cleaning quote

1. Choose the purpose and priorities

Write down the areas that matter most. “Kitchen and two bathrooms before guests arrive” gives us a clearer starting point than “clean everything”. If you want the whole home assessed, include the number of rooms and photographs showing their current condition.

  • Priority rooms: identify the kitchen, bathrooms and living or sleeping areas you want included.
  • Specific concerns: show build-up, marks and hard-to-reach or blocked areas in your photos.
  • Optional work: list requested extras separately so they can be assessed and included in the quotation.

Staying in your rental and preparing for a routine inspection? Share the inspection date and room priorities when requesting a single visit. See our one-off cleaning advice for routine rental inspections.

Moving out of a rental requires a different scope: see end-of-lease cleaning. Preparing for a photographer or open home? See pre-sale cleaning and share that deadline.

2. Clear the areas you want cleaned

Kitchen

  • Put away dishes, food and loose items from the benchtops and sink.
  • Identify the surfaces and cabinet fronts needing attention.
  • Ask for oven or fridge interiors, or inside cupboards and drawers, when requesting the quote. These are optional extras.
  • If cupboard or drawer interiors are included in your accepted quote, empty them before arrival.

Bathrooms

  • Remove toiletries, towels and personal items from the vanity, shower and bath areas being cleaned.
  • Point out fragile fittings, damaged surfaces or areas you do not want touched.
  • Keep the agreed cleaning areas accessible; organising personal belongings is excluded.

Bedrooms and living areas

  • Pick up clothes, toys, cables and other loose items from the floor.
  • Clear reachable surfaces and put away valuables.
  • Show furniture or belongings that restrict access, so the accessible areas can be agreed before booking.

3. Confirm extras instead of assuming they are included

Our one-off service can include separately quoted oven or fridge cleaning, internal and safe external windows, dry dusting of blinds, wall spot cleaning, and emptied cupboard or drawer interiors. Each requested extra must be included in the written scope.

For carpet steam cleaning, tell us the number and size of carpeted rooms and allow for drying time. Household items needing collection can be assessed through rubbish removal. Neither service is automatically included in a one-off clean.

Tidying, dishes, laundry and organising are excluded. We also exclude removing fan covers, work on ducts or motors, electrical work and ceiling mould.

4. Send access details with your enquiry

Tell us about stairs, lift bookings, parking restrictions and how entry will be arranged. Share your preferred date and any deadline. Do not assume a requested time is reserved until we confirm the appointment.

Photographs should show the cleaning areas and any condition concerns. Avoid including people, personal documents or valuables. Explain anything that will be removed or cleared before cleaning so the photos can be understood in context.

A simple checklist for your quote request

  • Suburb and preferred cleaning date.
  • House or apartment, occupied or vacant, and the rooms involved.
  • Your main priorities and requested extras.
  • Photographs showing condition and access restrictions.
  • Parking, stairs, lifts and entry arrangements.

Do I have to book the whole home?

No. You can request selected rooms or a whole-home quotation. We agree on the areas and tasks before booking. The final price depends on the property, condition, access and accepted scope; this checklist is not a fixed-price package.
